Alun Davies|Blaenau Gwent

Alun was elected to the National Assembly in May 2007. Alun is from Tredegar and was educated at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. After graduating Alun was elected President of the NUS Wales and then worked as a campaigner for WWF and Oxfam which included international assignments in Rwanda and the Balkans.

Alun has also enjoyed a successful career with Hyder plc as a public relations manager before being appointed Head of Public Affairs at the UK Atomic Energy Authority and S4C as Director of Corporate Affairs. Prior to being elected Alun was director of his own business, Bute Communications. He has worked throughout Europe and the Middle East and has been a regular speaker at international seminars and conferences.

Since being elected to the National Assembly Alun has sat on a number of different committees and has been active campaigning on local and national issues from the availability of broadband and access to public transport to poverty, deprivation and the improvement of public services.


Cafodd Alun ei ethol i’r Cynulliad Cenedlaethol ym Mai 2007.  Mae Alun o Dredegar a chafodd ei addysgu yng Ngholeg Prifysgol Cymru, Aberystwyth. Ar ôl graddio, cafodd Alun ei ethol yn Llywydd NUS Cymru ac yna gweithiodd fel ymgyrchydd i WWF ac Oxfam, oedd yn cynnwys aseiniadau rhyngwladol yn Rwanda a’r Balcanau.

Mae Alun hefyd wedi mwynhau gyrfa lwyddiannus gyda Hyder ccc fel rheolwr cysylltiadau cyhoeddus cyn cael ei benodi’n Bennaeth Materion Cyhoeddus yn Awdurdod Ynni Atomig y DU ac S4C fel Cyfarwyddwr Materion Corfforaethol. Cyn cael ei ethol, roedd Alun yn gyfarwyddwr ei fusnes ei hun, Bute Communications. Mae wedi gweithio ledled Ewrop a’r Dwyrain Canol ac mae wedi bod yn llefarydd rheolaidd mewn seminarau a chynadleddau rhyngwladol.

Ers cael ei ethol i’r Cynulliad Cenedlaethol, mae Alun wedi eistedd ar nifer o bwyllgorau gwahanol ac mae wedi ymgyrchu’n frwd ar faterion lleol a chenedlaethol o argaeledd band eang a mynediad i drafnidiaeth gyhoeddus, i dlodi, amddifadedd a gwella gwasanaethau cyhoeddus.
