Welsh Labour Leader Carwyn Jones AM, speaking on the campaign trail in Neath, Swansea and the Cynon Valley today, said:
“I’ve been on the campaign trail in four constituencies today alone, where the response to Welsh Labour’s message has been extremely positive.
“Though while there is strong support on the doorstep, we are under no illusion that Labour has a mountain to climb in this election. We know Jeremy needs to prove himself to the electorate here in Wales, just as we know the political weather is tough going, a fact underlined by the polling numbers released today.
“But we are ready to face this challenge head-on. Our MPs, candidates and members are up for this fight – as am I. They know that we have a proud record of Welsh Labour delivery in government. And they know that only way we can stop the Tories walking all over Wales is by voting Labour.
“And we should remember that this poll is just that – a single poll. Not a vote has been cast in any of Welsh Labour’s 25 seats in Wales. And we should also remember the polls before last May predicted a bad night for Welsh Labour. We confounded expectations then - and we can do the same on June 8th."
