Janice Gregory|Ogmore / Ogwr

Janice Gregory is Welsh Labour's campaign co-ordinator for the Welsh Assembly Elections Campaign 2016.

Janice was first elected to Assembly in 1999. As Chair of committees including the Communities and Culture Committee, she worked hard to ensure priority for regeneration, protection against abuse, steps to counter poverty and partnership between the Assembly and voluntary organisations.

As Chief Whip from December 2009 onwards she was responsible for ensuring that the Labour-led Welsh Assembly Government’s progressive policies were put into effect. She has enjoyed the opportunity to ensure that the Assembly delivers for everyone in Wales but she has remained a committed and active representative of her constituency.

Janice is proud of the new jobs, new schools, improved health services, free prescriptions, free bus passes, Flying Start schemes, Community First projects and the Western Valleys initiative which Labour has delivered for the people of Ogmore. She believes that there is a lot more to do and that this will not be easy in the face of the Tory/Lib Dem UK government’s savage cuts.

She chaired the campaign to stop the worst of the Lib Dem/Independent Coalition’s cuts in Bridgend County Borough and turn them out of power – and she will go door to door to rally opposition to the UK Government’s cuts.

Janice’s commitment is rooted in her community. She moved to the Ogmore constituency over 40 years ago with her mother Marion and her father, the late Sir Ray Powell MP. She and husband Mike have brought up two daughters in Pencoed. Now Janice works to ensure a fair future for her two young grandchildren and all today’s young people.

Janice will be standing down as Assembly Member for Ogmore in 2016.

Janice Gregory yw cydlynydd ymgyrch Llafur Cymru ar gyfer Ymgyrch Etholiadau’r Cynulliad Cenedlaethol 2016.

Cafodd Janice ei hethol i’r Cynulliad gyntaf ym 1999. Fel Cadeirydd pwyllgorau yn cynnwys y Pwyllgor Cymunedau a Diwylliant, gweithiodd yn galed i sicrhau blaenoriaeth ar gyfer adnewyddu, amddiffyn rhag cam-drin, camau i drechu tlodi a phartneriaeth rhwng y Cynulliad a sefydliadau gwirfoddol.

Fel Prif Chwip o Ragfyr 2009 ymlaen, roedd yn gyfrifol am sicrhau bod polisïau datblygol Llywodraeth Cynulliad Cymru o dan arweiniad Llafur yn cael eu sefydlu. Mae wedi mwynhau’r cyfle i sicrhau bod y Cynulliad yn cyflenwi ar gyfer pawb yng Nghymru ond mae wedi parhau’n gynrychiolydd ymrwymedig ac egnïol yn ei hetholaeth.

Mae Janice yn ymfalchïo yn y swyddi newydd, yr ysgolion newydd, y gwasanaethau iechyd gwell, y presgripsiynau am ddim, teithio am ddim ar fysys, cynlluniau Dechrau’n Deg, prosiectau Cymunedau’n Gyntaf a menter y Cymoedd Gorllewinol y mae Llafur wedi eu cyflenwi ar gyfer pobl Ogwr. Cred fod llawer mwy i’w wneud ac na fydd hyn yn hawdd wrth wynebu toriadau llym llywodraeth Dorïaidd y DU.

Cadeiriodd yr ymgyrch i atal y gwaethaf o doriadau Clymblaid y Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol/Annibynnol ym Mwrdeistref Sirol Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr a’u gwneud yn ddi-rym – a bydd yn mynd o ddrws i ddrws er mwyn sicrhau gwrthwynebiad i doriadau Llywodraeth y DU.

Mae ymrwymiad Janice wedi ei sefydlu yn ei chymuned.  Symudodd i etholaeth Ogwr dros 40 mlynedd yn ôl gyda’i mam Marion a’i thad, y diweddar Syr Ray Powell AS. Mae hi a’i gŵr Mike wedi magu dwy ferch ym Mhencoed. Bellach, mae Janice yn ceisio sicrhau dyfodol teg i’w dwy wyres fach a holl bobl ifanc heddiw.
