Wales could secure 40,000 new jobs if UK votes Remain on June 23

New figures revealed by Labour today show the UK economy has the potential to generate over a million new jobs if we remain in the EU’s single market – including up to 40,000 in Wales by 2030. These are the jobs of the future that will  help the next generation and deliver prosperity for working people across the country.

Chair of the Labour In for Wales Campaign and former Cabinet Minister, Lord Peter Hain said:

“Labour is clear that the UK’s membership of the European Union is good for Welsh jobs and good for Welsh workers.

“The UK economy has the potential to generate over a million new jobs if we remain in the EU’s single market – including up to 40,000 in Wales by 2030. These are the jobs of the future that will  help the next generation and deliver prosperity for working people across the country.

“Labour is united in campaigning for Britain to remain in Europe because Labour values are at the heart of this campaign.

“We believe in standing up for working people whose jobs and communities depend on trade with Europe. And we believe in standing up for the rights of everyone to be treated fairly at work – including those rights at work that are guaranteed by our membership of the European Union.”
