Welsh Labour’s Communities Secretary Carl Sargeant has agreed funding for a number of community projects in Wales.
The funding comes from the Welsh Labour Government’s Community Facilities programme which aims to develop and improve facilities which prevent the loss of community services and provide services which help mitigate poverty and its effects.
The successful projects are:
- £20,285 for the Gateway Credit Union in Pontypool. The funding will be used to upgrade the head office in Pontypool town centre by removing asbestos flooring and making changes to bring the building up to standard.
- £362,445 for the Millbank Senior Citizens Club in Holyhead. The funding will be used to demolish the Club and re-build as an energy efficient, highly insulated structure that requires minimal heating. It will have low running costs which will aid future sustainability.
- £500,000 for Splash Magic Leisure Centre in Plas Madoc, Wrexham. The grant will help fund a series of urgent repairs to the centre including a replacement roof, fixing wiring and insulation, replacing pool plant equipment and upgrading the CCTV and fire alarm.
