In response to Plaid Cymru press release on council housing, Welsh Labour’s Minister for Housing and Local Government, Julie James said:

“Plaid Cymru should stop peddling this nonsense and shielding the Tories from blame for stopping councils from building.

Welsh Labour is protecting council housing in Wales through ending the right to buy and after years of being blocked because of rules set by Tories at Westminster, our Welsh Labour government is helping councils to build homes again.

We are on target to meet our ambitious target of building 20,000 affordable homes this Assembly term – investing more than £1.7bn.”
